Scott's Place: Another Wellington FL Community Build
Have you signed up for Scott's Build yet? I did
The Village of Wellington is looking for volunteers to help build Scott's Place, a barrier-free playground for children of every ability.
Regardless of your skill level The Village of Wellington is welcoming everyone to take part on Saturday, January 16, 2010 & Sunday, January 17, 2010.
There will be two shifts: 1st shift is 7:30am-Noon, 2nd shift is noon-4:30pm and you can work both shifts. Check-in will be held at the Wellington Community Center at the beginning of your shift (12165 Forest Hill Blvd Wellington, FL 33414). Food and drinks will be provided to all volunteers by The Village of Wellington.
This build was made possible due to a $250,000 donation from Del & Barbara Williamson, Wellington residents, in honor of their son, Scott, who they lost to cerebral palsy.
Like Mr. & Mrs. Williamson I know how hard it is to watch a loved one sit on the sidelines due to their limitations. I lost my cousin, Nicholas, to cerebral palsy 5 years ago, but I know he would have loved this barrier-free playground. In his honor my family and I will be donating our time to this awesome community build.
I can't wait to watch my children along with other children of different abilities play together in our new Wellington Community Park.
