My name is Michelle Gibson and this is my blog. I appreciate you taking a minute to stop by and read my daily entries! Within you will find that I have some interesting thoughts and comments on a variety of subjects, especially real estate! Our electric company FPL ( Florida Power & Light) recently e-mailed me the "Top Five Energy Tips for 2010."  I like to think that my family is good about saving energy and this list confirmed that we are on the right track.  Out of the Five Tips we do four and I'll be working on getting the fifth.

First Tip:  Heat your home at 68 degrees or cooler & cool your home at 78 degrees or higher.  During the summer my home is set at 79-80 degrees, I love the heat, so this is actually my preferred temperature.  However when we have company I noticed they stay longer if I turn the AC down to 74-75 degrees.

Second Tip:  Have a programmable thermostat installed.  This is the one thing I have not done.

Third Tip:  Replace or clean your AC filter once a month.  Since most home owners in South Florida run their AC 8-10 months out of the year this is an easy way to save money.

Forth Tip:  Turn off your ceiling fan when leaving a room.  My family also turns off lights and Tv's, even if they plan on being back in 5-10 minutes.

Fifth Tip:  Use the auto sensor function on your clothes dryer, this is another easy way to save energy.  Wheather permitting I also try air drying items such as sheets, blankets & rugs.

I was curious if FPL had any other tips, so I went to their website at www.FPL.com and sure enough they had Top Ten Tips to Save Energy.

Locks of Love - West Palm Beach Florida - Donating Hair to Help Children

Locks of Love became near and dear to my heart a few years ago when my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer.  Like most cancer patients she lost all of her hair, but unlike most cancer patients my mom shaved her head the minute her hair started to fall out.  I thought it was such a brave thing to do and couldn't imagine how much strength it took.

The first time I saw my mom's bald head I offered to give her my hair.  My mom laughed at me like she always does and told me I could keep my hair.   In my offended voice I said "fine if you don't want it I'll give it to someone who does" and that's exactly what I did.

I decided to donate my hair to Locks of Love, which is a Non-Profit Organization that provides hairpieces to children in the United States and Canada who are suffering from long-term medical hair loss.  Through the donation process I found out that Locks of Love is based right here in West Palm Beach Florida, so I was able to bring my donation directly to them.

I DID IT!!!  It took me over a year to grow my hair the extra ten inches that were needed.  I wanted to cut it off numerous times, but I didn't and even though my mom is cancer free today I will continue to donate my hair.

Our mission is to return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children. The children receive hair prostheses free of charge or on a sliding scale, based on financial need.

Lexus of Palm Beach Service Department Blows the Competition Away - Thank You Charlie Dao

I'm blogging from Lexus of Palm Beach!!! Over the years my husband and I have owned several different vehicles from many manufactures: Honda, Ford, SAAB, Jeep, BMW along with a few more.

When it comes to servicing our vehicles I've had horrible service, adequate service and great service. It wasn't until I purchased my Lexus from Lexus of Palm Beach that I received fabulous service.

My Service Representative, Charlie Dao, always gets me in and out of Lexus fast. Although I don't mind sticking around since Lexus of Palm Beach, in my opinion, is a five star dealership.

They have Wi-Fi, so I can bring my laptop, like I did today and work. The only problem I have is deciding where my "office" is going to be, will it be in the cafe at a high top table or will it be in the back where the leather massage chairs overlook a peaceful fish tank.

Today I have chosen the royal treatment, leather message chair overlooking the fish tank and I'm thinking my filing cabinet would look good next to it. I could be onto something here, Lexus does have better hours than my office, so this may work.

For those who don't have to work you can watch TV in the lounge or the cafe. Want to shop? Head around the corner and check out the clothes, sunglasses, jewelry, cards, rims and many other accessories.

Servicing my Lexus at Lexus of Palm Beach isn't FREE. However Car Washes are FREE, Drinks are FREE (Starbucks Coffee), the fruit, bagels and cookies are FREE and these items are FREE even without service. What more could you ask for?
